Dan Murphy
Dan Murphy is a partner in the education law firm of Daniel R. Murphy, P.C. For the past four decades, Dan’s practice has consisted almost entirely of representing public school systems, RESA’s and Charter Schools across the State of Georgia. Between serving as a Tribunal and 504 Due Process Hearing officer, mediator, employment defense counsel and representing school districts in the 11th Circuit Cout of Appeals, Dan has focused on the relentless, professional delivery of legal services in support of public education, in Georgia.

As a Speaker
Dan is a frequent speaker at State and National conferences and is also the co-author of The Fair Labor Standards Act in American Public Schools: A Guide for School Officials (Rowman and Littlefield, 2007); The American Association of School Personnel Administrators Family and Medical Leave Act Compliance Manual (AASPA, 2007), The 2009 FMLA Supplement (AASPA, 2009) and The Guide to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (Rowman & Littlefield, 2009). Most recently, Dan presented at the Georgia Association of Special Educator’s Conference in Savannah in November of 2024 on the topics of manifestation determinations, student threats and the use of threat assessments in schools.
